About the images
The images on this site have been assembled from various private collections. Most date back to 1930’s – 1950’s, however several are earlier than that. Some of the images first appeared in tourist series products, which were popular in New Zealand in the 1920s and 1930s where tourists and locals could purchase a packet of small, top quality black and white professional photos. The cardboard wallets they came in were designed to be posted.
The images on this site have all been professionally scanned, and where appropriate digital retouch has been performed.
